West Point Recognition at Army-Navy Game

I am very proud to be a graduate of the US Naval Academy’s Great Bicentennial Class of 76 and especially of 34th Company from where the greatest US Marine of our time, GEN John Allen, who is leading the fight overseas in the Global War on Terrorism, hails.

I request that the US Naval Academy Brigade of Midshipmen publicly acknowledge West Point's unparalleled sacrifice in the Global War on Terrorism during this Saturday’s historic Army-Navy Game played in the nation's capital on the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

From the responses received, the US Naval Academy Public Affairs Office believes that having the Brigade of Midshipmen render a 5-second salute during this Saturday's Army-Navy football game to recognize West Point's 5-fold sacrifice in the Global War on Terrorism is beyond its ability.

Perhaps the public could persuade the US Naval Academy to do the right thing. After all, if we can put a man on the moon, we certainly can give 5 seconds of our time to recognize our fellow brothers and sisters in arms for giving the ultimate sacrifice. Our nation lost 86 West Point graduates and 16 US Naval Academy alumni, as a result of this war.

Hopefully, the Brigade will give a collective recognition, with the eyes of a proud nation watching, to our West Point brothers and sisters in arms that have and continue to sacrifice so much. In the mean time, take a little time to look at each of the 86 West Point graduates at the West Point Association of Graduates website, www.westpointaog.org. Very Respectfully,
